Hydrogen is an inevitable link in the success of the energy transition. Geopolitics, security of supply, climate change, air quality and grid congestion are key drivers for that energy transition.
Although change is sometimes difficult, it also offers opportunities for employment and prosperity. In the Netherlands we don’t have and Ministry of Climate and Green Growth for nothing!
Worldwide, our knowledge of hydrogen is highly regarded. However, we need to maintain our lead.
We believe that the application of hydrogen in mobility is a catalyst for the energy transition and leads to a positive impact on the hydrogen economy in a broad sense.
So Fountain Fuel is doing now, what others are still talking about. We are breaking through the chicken-and-egg discussion and building a network of zero-emission energy stations, ahead of demand. This is how we make driving on hydrogen feasible, affordable and scalable.
We are building Fountain Fuel stations in Europe, combining hydrogen refueling and e-charging.
Both technologies complement each other – the best of both worlds.
We think it is unwise to put all eggs in 1 basket.
Battery-electric mobility now has a head start.
Hydrogen-electric is slightly behind, but is making up an inevitable and necessary lost ground.
This will require sufficient accessible and reliable hydrogen refueling stations.
Soon everyone will be able to fill up with hydrogen in his or her region at Fountain Fuel.
We have started in the Netherlands. Our first Fountain Fuel is in Amersfoort and is opened in 2023. It wasn’t always easy. Land is scarce, permit procedures are slow, subsidy processes complex, and it took “a while” before investors believed in Fountain Fuel’s chances. We have, in short, come a long way to get where we are today.
In 2025, we will open new locations in Rotterdam and Nijmegen.

By 2030 we aim to have a network of 30 Fountain Fuel stations operational in the Netherlands and Sweden.

With our team and solid partners, we are now accelerating the roll-out of our network. The reliability, accessibility and availability of our stations, have lowered the threshold for many car manufacturers to test or introduce new models at Fountain Fuel.

Our stations are suitable for all vehicles, from passenger car to truck. Our uptime in Amersfoort is a whopping > 98%. So at Fountain Fuel, you can always get your hydrogen vehicle filled up.
