Founded by two idealists; Stephan Bredewold and Steef Severijn. Together they have one mission: to make the future more sustainable, more equitable, and cleaner. How? By creating a network of zero-emission energy stations: 50 Fountain Fuels by 2030!
Without energy, everything stops. We support progress, only with sustainable energy. We are tired of the question ‘why?’ It’s time to make choices and roll up our sleeves.
We’re doing where others are still talking about it!
We founded Fountain Fuel in 2016 to turn our words into action. Since then, we have been building a network of zero-emission energy stations at strategic locations throughout the Netherlands.
It has not always been easy. Land is scarce, licensing procedures are slow, subsidy processes are complex. And it took some time for investors to believe in the opportunities of Fountain Fuel. In short, we came from far to get where we are now: the realization of our first three Fountain Fuels in 2023.
We will start in the middle of the Netherlands in Amersfoort. Rotterdam and Nijmegen will follow soon after. By around summer 2023, we expect to announce the next locations. Check our location page for updates!
The energy transition is inevitable. Sometimes it seems like there is a tribal war going on between hydrogen fans and battery believers. The “hydrogen camp” focuses on grid congestion, while the “battery camp” mentions the energy loss in the production of sustainable hydrogen. Furthermore, the opinion has arisen that hydrogen is mainly something for use in the industry.
At our energy stations, we combine both technologies. The technologies complement each other – the best of both worlds. Moreover, it is unwise to put all our eggs in one basket. Battery-electric mobility has a head start now. Hydrogen-electric is following closely behind but is now catching up. The lack of good hydrogen refueling stations is one of the obstacles to the growth of the number of vehicles. We break the often-mentioned chicken-and-egg discussion.
