Demand for hydrogen vehicles is increasing. Grid congestion hinders the growth of a strong network of charging stations. In addition, hydrogen has advantages in terms of range, flexibility and refueling time. The growth of our network goes hand in hand with the increasing supply in vehicles and available subsidies. Of course, we also offer charging facilities for a wide range of battery-electric trucks, vans and passenger cars.

The growth of hydrogen-powered vehicles is taking off in earnest. Costs are still relatively high now, and many companies are not sufficiently
familiar with the possible grants (up to €300,000). On this page you will find more information about the models.

Hydrogen trucks

The development of hydrogen trucks is going fast and the number of models is growing. In addition, a number of truck brands are coming out with hydrogen-powered internal combustion engines – these are also zero-emission. This development runs parallel to fuel cell vehicles. These vehicles resemble battery-electric vehicles, but with far fewer batteries, more range and a much shorter refueling time. Truck manufacturers MAN, VDL_E-Lions, Paul – Mercedes Atego, Hyundai and FAUN are now marketing vehicles.

Hydrogen-powered vans

There are currently two hydrogen-powered vans: the Opel Monvano and the Opel Vivaro. These vans can be used for short and longer distances.

Battery-electric buses are now being chosen in several tenders for public transport. A fine solution, but one that sometimes leads to problems. Long charging times sometimes disrupt efficient operation. In cold weather, range decreases and temperature control in the bus is a problem. Moreover, grid congestion also proves to be a showstopper here, resulting in insufficient charging capacity.  

Hydrogen-powered buses offer a very good alternative. Hydrogen buses are currently running in the provinces of Groningen, Drenthe and South Holland.  After going through a test period for target group transportation, a wide range of hydrogen vehicles is now being developed.

Special vehicles
on hydrogen

Hydrogen is particularly suitable for special applications, such as garbage trucks, construction vehicles and emergency vehicles. This is due to the combination of high energy density and the ability to deliver consistently high power, without loss of performance. This makes it possible to transport heavy loads and work in harsh conditions. Moreover, hydrogen-powered transportation makes you independent of the electricity grid, making it ideal for use in remote areas or industrial environments where a reliable source of energy is necessary.

Like battery-electric vehicles (BEV), a hydrogen-electric vehicle (FCEV) emits no pollutants through the tailpipe. Hydrogen refueling for a passenger car takes about 5 minutes. Most trucks refuel in 15-20 minutes. Furthermore, hydrogen vehicles are less dependent on temperature variations (cold weather) and the range is predominantly longer.

Climate change and the war in Ukraine have accelerated the process of wanting to be less dependent on fossil fuels more quickly.

The development of hydrogen in mobility is moving fast. In addition to Fountain Fuel, other companies are now building more stations, aided by strong government subsidies to speed it up. Because of new regulations and subsidies, car manufacturers are also catching up.

Hydrogen vehicle production is now beginning to take off. Car companies Toyota, Stellantis and MAN trucks are moving toward mass production. Other brands are preparing for this and now produce mostly small batches.

Inevitably, series production will lead to price drops, just as has been the case with electric cars. To kickstart hydrogen mobility, the government is now providing subsidies on hydrogen vehicles.
